Three days at the beach starting the day after school lets out! Room rented, minivan rented, only thing I need to buy is a pop up canopy, everything else we have this time. So excited! I grew up in Hawaii and even though the Texas coast is no where near as lovely as that, going to the beach feels like going home!

I've always felt like a fish out of water in social events or just at simple fam or friends hang outs. To people i seen to be a nice person but its so hard for me to make friends. Breaks my heart because now that im a mom my daughter doesnt have friends but the ones in school. I wish i can make friends so she can play with someone, but then i would have to interact with their parents. This just doesnt come natural to me.

Growing up, we went to Catholic school, but our best friends were Jewish and had Hebrew school on Sundays, which they called Sunday school. I was a teenager before I realized that the term "Sunday school" was applied mostly for Christians and not for Jews.

I'm very doubtful that Autism is hereditary. Since I was young, I've worked with special needs... as an elementary student I was allowed to read to what was then called the "resource" room. In high school, I was a peer 1:1. Back then, there was one autistic girl. That was it. (there were other kids with downs, etc) Now, we have an entire school dedicated to students with Autism. (Oh, its the same school district I grew up in, and the student body has actually shrunk since then)

Even when I was a teen I knew I didn't want to have sex just to feel what it was like and enjoy it. I wanted to only have it with someone I would be prepared to raise a child with if all birth control failed by some cosmic fluke. This meant a long term relationship and some semblance of financial responsibility, and my own prepardness to give up school/whatever. Worst case scenario, but we all know people it's happened to. So the first person I had sex with was my now DH, before we were married. I don't regret it. I don't want to shop around.

I'm seriously considering giving my husband full custody of our children and forcing him to move back to his parents' house. I have virtually no say in parenting, I'm undermined and overriden at every turn by not only him, but my parents and family and his parents as well. I am their literal and figurative punching bag. Emotional, physical, and mental punching bag. At least at his parents house, they'd have the consistency of being able to eat like pigs, go to bed filthy, run into the street, and stay up all night and fail out of school instead of me trying to raise them right.

You wouldn't believe the way your kid behaves at school.

Honest to god SIL you're an Absolute fucking moron! Everyone else might make excuses for you but you spent your whole educational career in English speaking schools. Hell, we went to the same high school! How is it you can't form one coherent sentence on paper? Just write it how you would say it! I pity your poor children. They'll pass your knowledge of the written word by 3rd grade!!!

i love my parents dearly, but they raised in a very isolating, authoritarian religion. i wasn't allowed to do any of the normal things other kids did: sports, school organizations, class elections, dances, etc. it made me lonely and awkward and hesitant to make decisions on my own. now that i have a daughter, i look forward to encouraging her to do all those things and making them fun for her. i will come to every game or meet, i'll make posters for her campaign for class president and i'll spend hrs helping her pick out her dress for prom. i can't wait.

My DD17's best friend (17) just had a baby girl, and named her Loyalty. Too bad the friend won't be going back to high school to finish her senior year, despite my DD and I pushing her to do so. :(
